Meet our friendly, experienced pediatric staff at Mejia Pediatrics LLC! Our entire team is dedicated to helping you and your child feel at home from the moment you walk through the door. We’re proud to be a member of the Elizabeth community and serve the healthcare needs of their children.

Dr. Johanna J. Gonzalez-Mejia, MD, FAAP

Dr. Mejia, the owner of Mejia Pediatrics, received her medical degree from Instituto Tecnologico De Santo Domingo. She completed her residency at Beth Israel Medical Center and Albert Einsten College of Medicine of Yeshiba University as well as a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease from University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. Dr Mejia is Board Certified from the American Board of Pediatrics. She has been practicing since 1999. She loves being part of the community and seeing the families in the office grow.

Elizabeth Fortes, MS, RN, CPNP-PC, AE-C

Elizabeth Fortes is Certified Pediatric Nurse Practioner. She received her training from Seton Hall University. Elizabeth is a Board Certified National Asthma Educator. Before becoming a Nurse Practioner, Elizabeth worked as a Registered Nurse in general pediatrics, pediatric oncology and in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Amy Witterschein, MS, RDN

Amy Witterschein is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She received her training from Russell Sage College and Sage Graduate School. Amy has experience in clinical nutrition as well as with community health programs. Amy works closely with our medical providers to provide our patients with nutritional counseling. Amy's special areas of interest include picky eating and food allergies.
